I’ve been splashing bits of green all over my house to encourage the arrival of Spring as enthusiastically as possible. Yellow is just as good as green in my opinion. It’s bright, it’s sunny, and it looks happy. I may have a lot of black and white going on in this house, but don’t let that fool you. I’m all for an explosion of colors and patterns when it comes to accents!
I bought these particularly dowdy looking stools the other day at a resale store. Besides the tragic upholstery job some poor soul had attempted, the fabric was simply horrid.
Approximately twenty minutes later, their situation was much improved with new lively yellow seats…and I didn’t even have to spray paint them! What a shocker.
I have this awkward little half wall separating my kitchen and dining room where they are currently residing. I’ve made peace with my dislike for the wall after I painted the kitchen, but I still don’t love it much. I use it for a coffee bar and serving counter for food when I have guests. That black spot behind one of the stools is a hole from an old wall heater that needs patching. We have those wonderful little blemishes all over the house, but really, they are not too high on my priority list just now. Someday we’ll fix them all…along with the gross linoleum floor. (Just as a public service announcement, white linoleum is never a good idea. Especially if you plan on keeping it for fifty years. Just say no.) In the mean time, yay for yellow bar stools!
The master bedroom, hall library, and sun-room, each need a day or two of work before I can cross all three of them off my list. Nothing like starting seventeen different things at one time. If they were all as easy as reupholstering bar stools we’d have some serious progress around here! So, what are your color choices for Spring?
