The Entry’s Mini Fall Makeover and Peak at it’s Past

entryway fall decor chapter37

The entryway was the first “room” in this house to see the light of day…or rather, the light of white paint and a scrub brush. I started at the front door when I began painting, and worked my way around the down stairs by order of the rooms which received the most use. This is the first area to get redecorated for a season, and for some reason that just tickles me.

If you are to the point in a house where you can re-decorate a space…well then, you are making mighty fine progress I’d say! I didn’t actually do all that much, just a touch of Fall here and there. I was inspired to do this pumpkin picture by a tutorial I saw an another blog…but I can’t find it now to save my life! Ugh! If I find it, I’ll add the link. (Edited 10/8: I found the tutorial! It’s right here at I should be Moping the Floor.)

I usually have another picture on this wall, but I keep it propped on plant hangers so I can change it out easily whenever the mood strikes me. I painted this pumpkin sign on a piece of scrap wood. I’ve never tried painting any sort of picture before, but I think it’s fairly recognizable so I’m satisfied. I just wanted it to look like one of those farmer’s market signs or u-pick signs you see on the side of the road. Nothing fancy.

I spray painted  a wreath and tied a lantern on it for my front door. Wreath making has never been my specialty. Can you tell? =)

To fully appreciate this space, you’d have to know what it looked like when we first moved in. Beautiful no? (You can see how I reused the mirror and shelf HERE.)

It’s always nice to remember where things began, it helps you keep right on truckin’ when you really don’t feel like tackling another wall.

Black and white entry by chapter37

I’m so glad Fall is here, aren’t you? It’s so friendly like. You just instantly know you’ll be good friends when it first arrives in town.

I plan to get back down to business and finish painting my guest room this week…I figured I better take my own advice and “finish chewing” what I bit off to do. I hope you have a happy week ahead!

Matthew 7:16-18   Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
