Is there any better feeling than knowing you are loved and wanted by someone? Valentine’s day was two days ago, and to some that may mean a chocolate induced coma, or a vase of roses, or a card, or a date night…and to some that may mean nothing at all. To be loved by another person is a wonderful thing, but even then, that wonderful love is marred. By us, the human…the failure and disappointment that every single human being will bring to another at some point, simply because we are imperfect beings. That’s why the love of another human will never fully complete us. Our hearts were made to need a love stronger than any that we can find in life, it is made to need the love of our Heavenly Father. They say that love is the universal language, do you suppose that that is some sort of coincidence? I don’t. The master Creator, God, made these hearts of ours to need the deep love that is His gift to us. That love that He offers us is safe and unchanging. Because there is nothing I can do to deserve it, there is also nothing I can do to loose it. That is security! That is peace! Any sort of love I find, apart from Him, is just a very slight shadow of all that could fill my heart if I only chose to let it. His love is so very simple to find, shown in millions of ways every day. It’s already been given and it’s never retracted…even if it’s refused. Isn’t that amazing?
How deep the Father’s love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory
Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that left Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished
I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom
Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
