If I’m in an all fired rush to get dressed and out the door…it’s going to be a black and white outfit sort of day (just how many times a week that happens shall not be mentioned…). Painting a house? Black and white. Day dreaming about sewing color-block infinity scarves? You guessed it, just a touch of black with that white if you please. Does that qualify me for the most boring person on the planet? It’s quite possible. I prefer to think of it as having a well adjusted appreciation of color contradictions. You can always count on black and white to create striking affect.
The black and white check flannel I used to sew this scarf was my downfall…I wasn’t planing on anything of the sort until I saw it. Sigh, oh fabric stores why must you tempt me so?
Making one is very, very simple. You need two strips, 14 inches wide of your main fabric. I used a white knit for the main fabric. The length depends on how long you want your scarf to be. You need one more strip 14 inches wide of the accent fabric. It doesn’t matter if it’s a woven (non-stretchy) or a knit (stretchy). You can even choose chartreuse and magenta instead of black and white if you really want.
Sew your two main colored strips together leaving the ends open. Do the same for accent color.
With both “tubes” wrong side out, slide one inside the other and line up the edges.
Sew them together, and it should look like this when you straighten it all out.
To connect the other two ends, lay ends together one on top of the other. Sew just the two inside edges together.
After sewing, lay it out flat. Fold the main fabric over the raw edge of the accent fabric.
Both raw edges should not be seen.
Top stitch along this fold.
That will neatly close the scarf into a circle, giving you an infinity scarf with no seams showing on the outside.
Christmas is coming faster than I can dare comprehend…throwing one of these together would make a great gift for someone! These are also available for purchase in my shop HERE. Who knows, I may even get really adventurous and add more colors! Any excuse to go buy more fabric is perfectly acceptable to me. What colors would you pick?
Jeremiah 17:10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

This is awesome! I should really start making my own scarves because I’m a) cheap and b) love scarves! Thanks for sharing.
I love this! So pretty!
Love this combination! So cute. I’ve never made scarves before, though I’ve been wanting to make. Will make some this fall/winter, definitely!
I love the black & white flannel; I’d wear this all the time!
Lovely scarf! I’ve made and posted one me too, lately
Really similar, in fact, but made with scraps
